The world has lost a Great Man. God gave his toughest battles to his toughest soldiers. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith - Timothy 4:7
Steven Michael McKee, age 51, of Hanover, Minnesota passed away at his home on Sunday, December 7, 2014 after his 23 month battle of a rare form of cancer. He was surrounded by his family and passed peacefully in his favorite leather chair.
Steve graduated from Benilde Saint Margaret High School and Saint Cloud State. While he was in his early 30's he married his wonderful wife Nina. He worked in the oil/fuel industry after college and ended up his career working at Dehn Oil, a phenomenal employer .
Steve's sons, at an early age, became involved with wrestling. This was the kinda thing they did as a family, like a hobby. Thus began a long passionate road for the McKee family of wrestling throughout the US.
People were drawn to Steve, his energy, smile, sense of humor, positive attitude and spirit. Steve was someone that could walk into a room of strangers and come out with many friends. He always had a smile on his face and made everyone around him smile also. Steve certainly showed us life is to be lived and smiles are to be given no matter the circumstance. Steve's energy, positivity and spirit lives on in his loving family, the many young men he has coached over the years and the lucky ones like the STMA wrestling community were blessed to call him a friend. When Steve coached youth sports, he believed in the talent and ability of each and every player. Hunting, golfing, fishing and being at the lake were his other passions. Steve believed, It is not the length of life, but the depth of life.Cancer came knocking at his door on February 20, 2013. A rare form of cancer, Chondrosarcoma, was the diagnosis. The prognosis was dismal but to Steve it was just another hurdle in life to address. Time fell short of what he would have liked it to be. His tumors were donated to Sarcoma Research at the Mayo Clinic.
He is survived by his wife, Nina, and his two sons, Mitchell (16)and Patrick(15). He is also
survived by his parents, Robert and Wanda McKee of Pequot Lakes, MN, his brother, Michael McKee and fiance' Becky Wallace of Maple Grove, MN, sisters, Sheri (Wally) Shelstad of Buffalo, MN, Judy McKee of Little Canada, MN, Laurie McKee of Plymouth, MN and long time friend David Daniels of Maple Grove, MN.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan McKee.
Leander Philip Rademacher
(April 30, 1925 - December 31, 2014)
Leander Philip Rademacher, age 89 of Big Lake and formerly of Alexandria, passed away on December 31, 2014 at St. Cloud Hospital. Visitation will be Monday January 5, 2015 from 10 am to 11 am at Church of Mary of the Visitation Church, 440 Lake Street North, Big Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am with Fr. Gene Doyle officiating. There will be a private interment. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
Leander was born on April 30, 1925 in Melrose, MN to William and Mary (Walentiny) Rademacher. Following high school, he served in the US Navy during WWII. He worked most of his life as an electronic technician with the FAA primarily in Minneapolis and Alexandria. He made his home in Alexandria for 40 years and in Big Lake for the past 6 years. He was a good hearted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who professed for everyone to have a little fun every day. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Church of Mary of the Visitation of Big Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; six children Debbie Hribal, Diane (Steve) Smith, Doug Rademacher, David (Miki) Rademacher, Denise (Craig) Smith, Dan (Jessica) Rademacher; 8 grandchildren; and one great grandchild; brother Richard Rademacher; and sister Jeanette Rambler. He was preceded in death by his parents; and six siblings.
Arnold "Dick" J. Schueller, age 75, passed away from complications due to a brain hemorrhage on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. A Mass of Christian Burial was performed by Father Geno Doyle at Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Big Lake on Tuesday, January 6, 2015.
Dick was born on February 7, 1939 in Richmond, Minnesota, the son of Arnold and Rose (Brinker) Schueller. He graduated from St. Boniface High School in Cold Spring, Minnesota in the spring of 1957 and entered the United States Army in September of 1957. He was stationed in Newark, California for two years, working as a NIKE AJAX guided missiles fire panel operator.
After his time in the service, he returned to Minnesota and completed vocational training in tool making at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. In 1964 he started working at Raleigh Industries making precision parts and building specialty machines. Dick married the love of his life, Donnis Ringhofer, on May 14, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna, Minnesota. Their adventures together began on their honeymoon -- a trip to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming --- which included experiencing bears right up to their car and a high country snowstorm in May. Their adventures continued as they raised their three children together. Michelle (Shelly), Michael and Mark all learned the importance of family and togetherness from them. Dick lived a full and active life, contributing greatly to the Big Lake community through his service on the Big Lake Township Board, in the Knights of Columbus and through various leadership roles with Boy Scout Troop 93.
Dick and Donnis moved their family to Big Lake in 1973 when Raleigh Industries (then RJ Industries, later Remmele Engineering) built their first plant on Highway 10 in Big Lake. He worked at Remmele Engineering as a machinist for 35+ years, retiring in January of 2000. During his retirement, he enjoyed visiting family, do-it-yourself projects, woodworking and camping. He also enjoyed serving the Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church community whenever he could. Dick will be fondly remembered for being a kind, loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
Dick will be sorely missed by his wife Donnis and their loving children, Shelly (and Paul Huggett) of Marshall, Wisconsin and their daughters Alanna and Claire; Michael (and Heather) Schueller of Becker, Minnesota and their daughters Victoria and Olivia; and Mark (and Marilynn) Schueller of Hillsborough, North Carolina and their daughters Sarah and Anna; his siblings: Millie Sindt, Dottie (and Pete) Weber, Norbert (and Clara) Schueller, Paul (and Sue) Schueller, Teresa (and Steve) Dalsin, and Elmer Ganzer; multiple nephews, nieces, and numerous other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings: Marie Counter, Lawrence Schueller, Adella Linn, Florence Walz, Lucille Slavik, Veronica Hochette; nephews Richard Wodrich and Daniel Wodrich, and brother-in-law Russell Sindt.
